Volunteer Pool Party - Postponed

Our Camp Volunteer Pool Party has been postponed -- too much rain. No one wants to get wet when they are out of the pool!

So, next week -- same place, same time, same details!

See you then!

Summer Family Fun

We planned for fun. What to do when the rain comes?!?

Sadly, I think we need to cancel our adventure. There's a lot of rain falling right now. I'm not big on muddy situations.

Miss Debby will be at the church at 9:30a just in case people still want to head out to the farm! Bring your lunch.

KidZone

Hero - dfn - one who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.

Heros are all around us.  We see them in movies, books, the news, but do we ever really see them in person?  Do you have a hero?  Perhaps your mom or dad, a brother or sister, a soldier, or a superhero is your hero.  Maybe the President or a world leader is your hero.  Maybe someone who has invented something or discovered a new land is your hero.

What if you met someone who gave up everything for a cause?  They were willing to leave home, find a new place to live, learn a new language all because they loved someone.  Wow!  That's a lot to give up for one person.  But, when you've been loved by someone really well, you might be willing to give it all up too!  And in the process they want to tell others about that great love.  I don't know about you, but someone who can offer me the best thing in the world, they are my hero.

This week, some people who have given up an awful lot are coming to visit.  It's Missions Festival week at CPC.  Missionaries from all over the world are coming to tell us about their work sharing the love of Jesus with others.  They will be traveling around the globe to be with us.  Coming from Japan, China, Ukraine, Washington, DC, and other parts of the world these folks will be able to tell us about giving it all up -- going the distance -- taking the chance -- fighting for the prize -- telling people about real love.

On Sunday, April 26th, you can come and experience some of the places that these missionaries live -- see what they get to experience and practice some of their customs.  Starting at 6p join us for some Worship and then head to KidZone in the Chapel to be part of Proclaiming Peace to all nations.  Then on Monday, April 27th, show your parents all the cool things you learned.  We'll be meeting Missionaries in the Fellowship Hall starting at 7pm.

Mom & Dad - if you'd like to help, just let Miss Debby know.

Easter Egg Hunt

On April 11, join us for our Easter Egg Hunt, 10-11:30AM.

Enjoy a snack, crafts, hunt and a story -- the best story ever.

Hey Chapelgate friends!! Help us make it possible:
1. Bring in candy/toys for the eggs, and drop off at church office
2. Help fill the eggs. We have about 5,000 eggs to fill!
3. Help the day of the hunt - hide eggs, monitor hunt sights, greet attendees, help all have a great time. This is a great opportunity for those without young children. Make it a family serving event!!

For more information or to volunteer, please email us at chapelgatekids@gmail.com.

Your World

What is your world like?

What did you eat for breakfast?

Where did you sleep last night?

Who was with you this morning?

What will you play with tonight?

How will you feel when you get up tomorrow morning?

For most of us, these questions have good answers.  For some a few of the answers are hard.  Maybe we don't have a mom or dad.  Maybe we've lost someone we really loved.  Maybe our toys are broken or we have to eat Brussels sprouts!

Maybe we don't have anyone who loves us.  Maybe we don't get to play with toys that are our own.  Maybe we have to stay inside all the time because we'd freeze outside.  Maybe our heat has been turned off for the last few months because there isn't enough money.

Maybe things are going well.  Maybe things are going bad.  Either way, it's all because of Jesus.  God tells us that everything in our world is held together by Jesus.  So, if things are good or bad, it's all because of Jesus.  If things are hard or easy, it's all because of Jesus.  If bellies are full or empty, it's all because of Jesus and his love for us.

Jesus' love for us invades every part of our world.  And His love is an odd thing to grasp.  It fills us and makes us realize how empty we are.  His love reaches us and reminds us how very far we are.  His love embraces us and shows us our need of him.  It gives us hope and creates more hope than we could ever have imagined.

But, we can see that God's hand is involved with all that we have occurring.  Whether we have lots or little, his pursuits are to draw us to him -- over and over again -- all through love.  And because of that love, we can't help but to give back.  Look at all we've got!!  His life, his death, his power over sin, his resurrection from the dead!  He's done all of it for you and me!  Think about how you can give back, how you can show thanks for that love.

The Ice - the Fear - the Reality

This week, we had quite a few snow days -- 2 with 1 delay! Woooohooo! I love getting snow days. Being from Florida, we don't have those. We sometimes got hurricane days, but those didn't amount to much.

And being from Florida, I don't know how to drive in the ice. It scares me. I'm not sure what is going to happen with my car - will it stop in time, will it hold up under the pressure, will I make it out of my driveway? I get scared. I was talking with a young friend of mine about her nap. She said that it was a good nap because no monsters came to her door. That was a good nap.

You know what? We all get scared sometimes. Whether we are scared about our family or what is going on with Mom and Dad. Whether someone we know is sick and might die or if we think about not doing well on a test. And sometimes we get scared because we just don't know what is going on. Thankfully, we have Someone who is always with us. Jesus promises to be with us. I told my friend that even when she was scared of the monsters, she could trust that Jesus, God's Son, would be with her.

This past Sunday, we learned that we could trust that Jesus is God's Son, able to heal us. And we learned what it means to forgive others. We can forgive only through Jesus' power and love, and that same power will help us turn from sin. We can believe in Jesus and his work on the cross so much so that we can celebrate each week about His goodness. We also talked about living lives that didn't conform to the world's ideas. Who in the world would really say to forgive others, celebrate the work of someone else, or to love as an expression of gratitude?

Can't wait to see you on Sunday!  Think about a time you were scared, remembered Jesus was with you and were able to get through it.  Share it with me on Sunday.

Peace,
Miss Debby
